Debra's On A Top Ten!! - January 15, 2006

Debra's CD, "The Hopeful Romantic", has won a spot on www.talkinbroadway.com's "TOP TEN VOCAL CD'S OF 2005"!!! Check out "Press & Reviews" for a link.

In July, Rob Lester included her CD in his "Sound Advice" column on talkinbroadway. (Also in "Press & Reviews") Last week, Mr. Lester wrote to inform her that he was including her CD on his list of favorites from last year!

We won't reprint the entire column (you can check it out yourself, if you're so inclined). But we will share his opening remarks:

"When a little-known singer can stand up among the heavyweights with some of the same material, she must be good. Debra Wagoner is one such singer. She has a solid, rich voice that has an unaffected sweet quality."

Debra was delighted, thrilled, and quite surprised to be honored like this! It's a great start to this New Year!

Debra Opens "Das Barbecu"! - November 13, 2005

The Swift Creek Mill Theatre in Colonial Heights, VA opened its production of "Das Barbecu" on Saturday, November 12, 2005! For those of you unfamiliar with the show, it is based on Wagner's Ring Cycle operas. It transports the story to Texas, gives it a country-western twang, and requires its 5 actors to portray over 25 different roles! Debra (playing Brunhilde and other roles) is joined in this musical madness by her friends Robin Arthur, Jacqueline Jones, Jason Marks and Derek Phipps. The madness continues thru January 7, 2006 -- so come enjoy the fun!!

CD Launch Party! - October 3, 2005

To celebrate the release of Debra's CD, "The Hopeful Romantic", we threw a Launch Party! The party was held at the Barksdale Theatre at Willow Lawn. Debra was joined by many of her friends and fans to share a wonderful evening of food, music and mingling! Check out the Photo Gallery for some pictures from the event!!

Style Weekly Reviews "The Hopeful Romantic"! - August 31, 2005

Dave Timberline has published a review of "The Hopeful Romantic" in the August 31 edition of Richmond's "Style Weekly"!

Here is an excerpt:
"Wagoner has a strong, supple voice memorable for its luxurious warmth and clarity. Her talent transfers splendidly from stage to studio on this debut CD, a collection of show tunes and standards with a stripped-down sound and innovative arrangements by pianist Ron Barnett... An evening with this “Hopeful Romantic” is time well-spent."
(Check out "Press & Reviews" for more!)

Debra's CD, "The Hopeful Romantic" is featured this week on www.talkinbroadway.com!! A review appears in the "Sound Advice" column in the section called "Under the Radar".

Rob Lester, a music reviewer who writes the "Sound Advice" column, recently contacted Debra to obtain a CD for his review. His rave review was posted on July 14. (His column is updated weekly, so check it out now!)

Mr. Lester calls this "... a sweetheart of a CD", and says Debra has "... a warm, rich voice and presence... instantly likeable and unpretentious." An excerpt of his review appears in the "Press & Reviews" section. Or you can e-mail Debra if you want to read to whole thing!

For her first review of her first CD, Debra could not have hoped for better!

Concert in Ketchum! - July 9, 2005

Debra recently treated patrons at the Tapestry restaurant in Ketchum, Idaho to an evening song. To residents in that area, she is perhaps best known for her portrayal of Patsy Cline - having performed the role twice for the Company of Fools. So, accompanied by the wonderful R.L. Rowsey, she delighted the audience with a few "Patsy" standards, as well as songs from her CD and other favorites.

The intimate concert was a great success; many customers stayed well into the night, and others called their friends to come join them! The restaurant's owner was delighted! She has invited Debra to come back again!

Off to Idaho... - June 13, 2005

On June 18, 2005, Debra will be traveling to Hailey, Idaho, to perform once more with the Company of Fools theatre. She will be appearing in "Quilters", directed by her dear friends, John Glenn & RL Rowsey. While in Idaho, Debra will also make some guest appearances in the area, including singing at the 4th of July parade, and other events to promote her new CD, "The Hopeful Romantic". So, if you're in the neighborhood... :-)
